Darwin Buses

Darwin accommodation

One of the best things about Darwin is that it is so easy to get around and even though it is a reasonably small city, it has a good public transport system and bus network. You can actually access most parts of the Darwin CBD on foot, which is one of the reasons that there is so little traffic in the CBD area.

To get to other parts of the city, there is a network of Darwin buses that operate along 14 different routes. The main bus terminal is located at Harry Chan Avenue and buses run every 30 minutes from there to their destination. The two most popular routes with tourists are the number 4 and number 10 buses, which run to Casuarina Square Shopping Centre via Mindil Beach and Parap. Tickets are also very affordable and there are a variety of options available from all day tickets and three hour tickets to books of 10 tickets and weekly passes.

In addition to the regular buses, there are min buses that operate within Darwin and will take you to Cullen Bay and Stokes Hill Wharf. You can also negotiate to be taken to other locations too as a service that is a combination between a bus and a taxi. There are also buses that travel to and from Darwin to other cities and centres such as to Katherine and Alice Springs. Most inter city buses with arrive and leave from the Darwin City Bus Terminal.
