Darwin Wave Pool

Darwin accommodation

The Darwin Wave Pool, also known as the Wave Lagoon, is the best place in Darwin to escape the heat and take a dip. One of the downsides to Darwin has always been the seasonal dangers of stingers and crocs, but at the wave pool, you have a totally safe place for all age groups to cool off. There is plenty of space for you to swim around and frolic with 4000 square metres of pool – including a shallow water area for toddlers. At its deepest point the pool is 2 metres and there are different sized waves that come through making it great fun for people wanting to do some body surfing or body boarding. One of the biggest waves that comes through on the ten minute cycle is a 1.2 metre wave, which is great fun for the kids and the big kids alike.

You can visit the wave pool on a half day or full day pass – with the full day session running between 10am and 6pm, the morning session from 10am to 2pm and the afternoon session from 2pm to 6pm. Since Darwin enjoys warm tropical weather all throughout the year, it is no surprise to learn that the wave pool has become an instant hit with locals and visitors. The saltwater has been chlorinated for swimmer safety and there are lifeguards on duty all around the area. The Darwin Wave Pool is located on the Darwin waterfront and is open everyday of the year.
