Territory Wildlife Park

Darwin accommodation

Just a short drive outside of Darwin is the Territory Wildlife Park, where you can see the full range of top end flora and fauna. The park is located just 45 minutes from the centre of Darwin at Berry Park.

Territory Wildlife Park

The park is divided up into three major sections – the wetlands, the woodland and the monsoon vine forest. The wetlands are made up of creeks, springs and lagoons that swell up during the wet season and last throughout the dry season. Regardless of the time of the year there is an abundance of life that hangs out in this part of the park. The monsoon vine forest is filled with bird life and looks just like an equatorial rainforest, except they do not receive the same level of rain.

The Flight Deck in the woodlands is the perfect place to see some of the top end’s bird of prey in all their glory. At the Nocturnal House you can meet many rare and endangered animals from the region in their especially reverse cycled environment. One of the highlights of the park that is not to be missed is the walk through aquarium tunnel where you can see all manner of top end marine life including a 3.7 metre saltwater croc.

Throughout the day there are several experiences and events that are offered to make your visit even more exciting. Some of these events include Tucker Time at the Billabong, the Oolloo Sandbar Experience, the Top End Birds of Prey presentation, The Territory Wildlife Park is open all through the year from 8:30am to 6:00pm, but closed on Christmas Day with last entry to the park at 4:00pm. You can get to the park by taking the Stuart Highway and turning onto the Cox Peninsula Road.
