Darwin Airport

Darwin accommodation

Darwin Airport offers both domestic and international arrivals and departures 7 days a week and is a 24 hour operational airport. Domestic flights take off and land from all Australian capital centres as well as regional centres such as Broome, Cairns and Alice Springs. International arrivals and departures include destinations such as Manila, Bali, Singapore, Denpasar, Dili and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Darwin Airport is steadily growing with close to two million travellers now passing through it each year. The popularity of the airport and its location are such that Jetstar is now considering making Darwin a hub for Australia to Asia travel. The airport is located just 13 kilometres from Darwin’s CBD making it easily accessible and travel times to and from the airport short.

The airport has one terminal which services both the domestic and the international flights. There is plenty of duty free shopping to be had in the terminal along with a range of food outlets for traveller comfort. You can hire cars directly from the airport, or you can take the airport shuttle into the city.

There is a taxi rank at the airport and there are also buses that operate between the airport and the Casuarinas Interchange, which is located in the north of Darwin. When travelling from the airport on either a domestic or international flight, you should ensure that you leave plenty of time to clear the security because although Darwin is by and large a relaxed town, airport security is one thing that is highly formalised in line with Australian aviation regulations.
