With an average temperature throughout the year of 30 degrees Celsius, it is no surprise that you can work up a mean thirst in Darwin. When you combine the relaxed lifestyle, the tropical climate and the fact that Darwin has the youngest median age population of any Australian city, it is no surprise to find that there is plenty of nightlife happening in the city.

In fact, Darwin has the highest per capita consumption of beer anywhere in the world and there plenty of establishments providing locals and residents with more than their fair share of great bars and pubs. The prolific amounts of tropical fruits on hand also make this a great place to sample a cocktail or two.

Even though it is a small city, there is a vibrant nightlife in Darwin that features a range of bars, pubs, clubs and beer gardens. Mitchell Street is one of the liveliest areas to head once the sun goes down with a range of bars, clubs, Irish pubs and live music on offer for the punters.

There is also a range of backpacker bars that are along this stretch of the CBD where revellers can dance the night away until the early hours of the morning. If roaming Mitchell Street in search of an ice cold beer, the Top End Hotel, is an icon of the city and features the biggest beer garden in Darwin, making it perfect for an afternoon ale.
