Darwin Nightlife

Darwin has a lively nightlife scene fueled by the many backpackers that visit and stay in Darwin. There are numerous pubs and clubs and all work hard for your custom. By law a cover charge is required for all the late night clubs but is often small.

Darwin Comedy Club
This venue is probably the most unique venue in the country. Its got 3 walls and no roof. The Old Darwin Town Hall Ruins were built in 1883 during the Pine Creek gold rush. The building survived the bombing of Darwin by the Japanese during WWII , only to be destroyed by Cyclone Tracy 50 years later. The building is Hertitage listed and is now an unused open-air theatrette… Well ‘unused' until the comedians rocked up. Address is cnr of Smith & Bennett Street, phone (Box Office) 89803333, information 0435 891 770

Discovery Nightclub

The Cavenagh

Top End hotel
This popular Darwin landmark houses Darwin's biggest beer garden, and also has a sports bar and gentleman's club. Mitchell Street (08 8981 6511).

Uncle John's Cabin
It's worth a visit to see how a bar can be housed in a converted railway carriage, but there is plenty more, as it has a large outdoor garden area as well. Known for late night music and dancing. Gardiner Street (08 8981 3358).

Victoria Hotel
The Vic survived Cyclone Tracie, so it can survive anything. Darwin's popular pub, for eating, dancing and partying. 27 Smith Street Mall (08 8981 4011).
