Darwin Restaurants

Darwin accommodation

Darwin is a truly international city – it looks north towards Australia’s Asian neighbours and with a strong Asian ethnic population, there is plenty of Asian cuisine represented throughout the city. Unsurprisingly, this city that is juxtaposed between the ocean to the north and the desert to the south offers a variety of sea food as well as some more exotic Australian cuisine. If you are looking for a spicy lakhsa, a Thai green curry, some Indonesia satay, Singapore noodles, freshly made sushi or any other Asian fare, then you will be pleasantly surprised by the array of options that are on offer for a city that is often thought of as by Australians as the last outpost before the wild expanse of the Aussie desert. If you want to try some great modern Australian dining, then Darwin punches above its weight in this area offering some inventive and innovative dishes involving native Australian produce and fresh meats such as crocodile.

Darwin has a couple of different dining precincts, where you can find everything from fine dining to casual cafes and local favourite take away spots. The Darwin CBD offers a lot of drinking and dining options, with many of them located close to the Smith Street Mall. Other dining precincts include Fanny Bay, Cullen Bay, the Wharf Precinct, Casuarina, Parap and Larrakeyah. Around the wharf and harbour area of Darwin there are several award winning seafood restaurants offering the freshest ocean fare to come out of the Timor and Indian Seas.
